I had my dream career.
One day, I wanted more.

I was lucky.

I was living in a city I loved, working in the heart of the music industry, which I’d dreamed of joining since I was a child and fell in love with culture, art, and expression. I met great people, went exciting places, and saw once-in-a-lifetime things. But inside me, something was switching gears.

I realized I wanted a professional path that reflected my deeper values and experiences. I realized I wanted an outlet to help me navigate “the issues” of our time with intention — not just stress about them after-hours. And I realized, like a true Millennial, that I wanted to help build a world and workforce on the promise of making a positive difference every day.

That search took me into social impact. A far cry from the music industry, but work about culture, people, and the human experience all the same.

Since that career leap, I’ve worked on positive change strategies and campaigns with nonprofits and household-name brands; at organizations and solo; and as a creator, curator, and host through Issue Space. And I’ve realized two things:

So many of us are looking for careers that feel purposeful and positive, whatever that means and wherever that takes us personally.

And so few of us are shown how to make that happen.

I started Issue Space to help light the way.

We started by bringing together purpose-driven professionals across issue areas, identities, and experiences in honest conversations unpacking what it means to center social good in your career — the good, bad, and in between.

Today, Issue Space is all about you. You who’s searching for work that’s deeper than a title and more meaningful than the day-to-day. You who feel a tug and a calling to give back. You who know that, if we have to work, that work should count toward our greater good. Just like I felt.

Purposeful work can take as many shapes and forms as there are people craving it, and we explore it all. As the world and our work landscape continue to evolve, so does the Space.

Thanks for being a part of it.
